Moving

11 Jul

Friday was my last day at work. Saturday I moved all my stuff back to my hometown so it can live at my Dad’s house. Today, wefinished moving and I cannot believe that was only one weekend.

There’s a point in every move where you realize you’re in over your head and you come to hate all your belongings.

Bluberry and I started packing two weeks ago. We went through bins and closets and made nice, big donation and trash piles. Then we quit for the most part until this week. Bluberry packed like mad the last two days. I went to work and sat on my fanny to make money. Friday night I packed and packed and packed to make up for how much he had done. We went to bed at 2am thinking, “this is the most prepared we have ever been for moving day.”

And sadly, with half the kitchen still unpacked, shit under the bed and couch, and little things everywhere, it was!

Our last move was awful. Like a pack of idiots, we looked around our house and thought “we don’t have that much stuff.” So we didn’t start packing at all until the day before. Well, well, check out how much stuff you have then! The next day, we didn’t leave the house until 11pm and it was thunderstorming. Worst move ever.

This one was better, but I still had that point, once you move everything big out, and you look around and say, “why the hell is there so much stuff left!?” Some belts here, socks there, cups and dishes that somehow didn’t register when you were putting all the big things together. The night before you think, “that’s easy stuff,” but when it’s two hours into the move and you just want to vacuum and be done so you can leave you realize it’s not easy at all and you are a huge dumbass. AGAIN. It’s like it tricks me every year!

Also I have poison oak on the back of my knee. It spread to my elbow somewhere in the course of yesterday. LAME. “Oh, you say I can’t scratch it? Well I’m not! I’m scratching around it, see? Totally different.” No it isn’t.

Seriously, though, I’m sitting on a bed at my Dad’s house looking at a short, but still, mountain of stuff. Hooooow did we get all this?

Only a couple days left now! Now to fight the desire to nap and go through some boxes instead.
